About the Journal
The Journal of Plant Pathogens and Disease Systems (JPPDS) is an international peer-reviewed open-access journal published by Aidoo Academic Press Ltd (United Kingdom). The journal publishes high-quality research advancing understanding of plant pathogens, plant diseases, host–pathogen interactions, disease epidemiology, diagnostics, and sustainable disease management in agricultural, forestry, horticultural, and natural ecosystems.
JPPDS promotes interdisciplinary research integrating plant pathology, microbiology, molecular biology, epidemiology, biotechnology, crop protection, plant health, and biosecurity to address emerging disease threats, pathogen dynamics, and sustainable disease management. The journal provides a platform for innovative research that contributes to plant health, food security, environmental sustainability, and resilient agricultural systems.
All articles undergo rigorous peer review and are published under a continuous publication model to ensure rapid global dissemination of scientific knowledge.
Aims & Scope
The Journal of Plant Pathogens and Disease Systems (JPPDS) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing research on plant pathogens, plant diseases, host–pathogen interactions, disease epidemiology, diagnostics, biosecurity, and sustainable disease management. The journal provides a platform for high-quality research that improves understanding of the biology, ecology, detection, spread, and control of diseases affecting crops, forests, ornamentals, medicinal plants, and natural vegetation.
JPPDS publishes theoretical, empirical, experimental, molecular, diagnostic, epidemiological, and applied studies that contribute to plant health, crop protection, food security, and sustainable agricultural production. The journal welcomes research on fungal, bacterial, viral, phytoplasma, oomycete, nematode, and other plant-associated pathogens, including emerging and re-emerging diseases of economic, ecological, and biosecurity importance.
The journal encourages interdisciplinary studies that connect plant pathology with microbiology, molecular biology, epidemiology, plant breeding, biotechnology, crop protection, soil health, biological control, integrated disease management, quarantine science, and plant biosecurity. Particular emphasis is placed on research that provides practical solutions for disease diagnosis, surveillance, risk reduction, pathogen management, resistant crop development, and sustainable plant health systems.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
plant pathogen biology, diversity, and evolution
fungal, bacterial, viral, phytoplasma, oomycete, and nematode diseases
host–pathogen interactions and mechanisms of pathogenicity
plant disease epidemiology and disease surveillance
disease diagnosis, detection, and pathogen identification
molecular plant pathology and pathogen genomics
plant disease resistance and host defense responses
integrated disease management and crop protection
biological control of plant pathogens
chemical and botanical disease management strategies
soil-borne, seed-borne, and vector-borne plant diseases
postharvest diseases and storage pathology
forest pathology and diseases of natural vegetation
quarantine pests, invasive pathogens, and plant biosecurity
disease forecasting, risk assessment, and early warning systems
pathogen transmission, dispersal, and disease spread
microbiome–pathogen interactions and plant health
disease impacts on yield, quality, and food security
resistance breeding and marker-assisted selection for disease management
sustainable plant health systems and agroecological disease management
pathogen diagnostics using molecular, serological, culture-based, and field-based tools
disease management in crops, forests, ornamentals, and medicinal plants
emerging and re-emerging plant diseases
policy, regulation, and institutional responses to plant disease threats
The journal aims to promote rigorous, scientifically sound, and practically relevant research that supports plant disease prevention, improves pathogen management, strengthens plant health systems, and contributes to sustainable agriculture, forestry, and environmental health.
In addition to original research articles, JPPDS welcomes review articles, short communications, technical notes, case studies, disease reports, methodological papers, perspectives, policy analyses, and interdisciplinary synthesis studies that advance plant pathology and plant disease management.
Publication Frequency
JPPDS operates a continuous publication model. Articles are published online immediately after acceptance, production, and author proof approval. The journal publishes articles continuously and compiles them into annual volumes.
