The Journal of Insect and Pest Science (JIPS) is a peer-reviewed international journal published by Aidoo Academic Press Ltd (United Kingdom). The journal publishes high-quality original research, reviews, short communications, and technical reports covering fundamental and applied aspects of insect science, pest biology, and sustainable pest management. It serves researchers, 0extension specialists, practitioners, and policymakers seeking scientific evidence on pest management and pest-related risks. All articles are published under rigorous peer review and made openly accessible to support global dissemination of scientific knowledge. JIPS operates under a continuous publication model and adheres to international standards of scholarly publishing.

Aims

The Journal of Insect and Pest Science (JIPS) advances entomology by making high-quality, reproducible research freely available to everyone. As an open-access journal dedicated to this field, JIPS provides a platform for researchers who value global accessibility, thorough peer review, and scientific rigour.

Our mission is to foster an ecological and physiological understanding of insects and other arthropods, from fundamental biology to innovative applied solutions. We are committed to addressing global anthropogenic challenges, including climate change, food security, and biodiversity loss, while advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).

We prioritize methodological soundness, sufficient experimental replication, appropriate statistical analysis, and conclusions that flow logically from results over perceived impact or novelty. JIPS welcomes transdisciplinary and niche fields, regional and international studies, and a wide range of article types, including original research, reviews, confirmatory studies, null/negative data, methods and protocols, forum articles, and rapid communications.

Scope

JIPS publishes top-quality research on biology, ethology, ecology, physiology, and management of insects and other terrestrial arthropods, as well as their interactions with human societies, plants, and ecosystem services. Specific areas of interest include:

• Pest Management & Applied Entomology: Biological control, biopesticides, integrated pest management (IPM), resistance to pest management products, and the use of beneficial organisms in pest control. Special attention is given to emerging and innovative control strategies and their effects on non-target organisms.

• Chemical & Sensory Ecology: Natural chemicals mediating organism interactions, host-plant selection mechanisms, infochemicals, and applied chemical ecology based on ecological problems or concerns.

• Physiology & Neurobiology: Endocrinology, environmental physiology, metabolic physiology and gas exchange, nutrition and growth, reproduction, behaviour, and microbiome interactions. Papers on functional genomics are welcome if they bear directly on physiological problems (not solely transcriptomic or bioinformatic).

• Molecular Genetics & Systematics: Insect molecular genetics, biosystematics, evolution, and invasive species.

• Ecology & Behaviour: (Co-) evolution, migration and dispersal, population modelling, sampling strategies, developmental and behavioural responses to photoperiod and temperature, natural and transgenic plant resistance, and parasitoid-host interactions.

• Ecosystem & Human Dimensions: Management of agro- and forest ecosystems relevant to pest control, insect economics, insect health and pathology, protection of commodities, public health, environmental risk assessment, and the economic impact of pest management products and methods.

JIPS encourages submission of papers with both chemical and ecological/behavioural elements, substantive observations of interactions in nature, elucidation of chemical compounds, mechanisms of production and reception, and translation of basic information into survey and control protocols. Authors need to provide full experimental details and supporting data (including supplementary material) to ensure reproducibility. Rapid communications on pressing pest control topics receive expedited handling.

The journal publishes peer-reviewed research and provides open access to scientific articles in insect and pest science.

JIPS operates a continuous publication model. Articles are published online immediately after acceptance, production, and author proof approval. The journal publishes articles continuously and compiles them into annual volumes.
